What can you do with it?
This machine is used to shape metals such as steel or aluminum by removing material with a rotating cutter called an endmill. It can also be used with wood, but metal machining is its main purpose.
You can use this milling machine to make precision metal parts of various shapes and sizes. The makerspace has a variety of endmills (which are like drill bits) for making various types of cuts.
Makerspace members routinely use this to make custom brackets, mounting hardware and parts for other tools.
Another use is to smooth out edges of flat metal parts after they were rough-cut with the metal band saw, resulting in a finished and professional look.
